Hi everyone! This week was marked by two events in
particular ... one is certainly the discovery of vessel Austral happened
a few days ago. At first we gave a halo of sadness because we felt that the crew
had done a bad end .. and the boat apart the damaged cross seemed ok; we thought to a lonely sailor lost at sea .
Approach, and provide to an ispection could not possible .. well, very annoying,
around the boat were a series of cables, halyards, which would have made a risky maneuver with engine. We tried to
get attention by the occupants yell at them, and playing a warning sound very powerful, with vhf, but nothing. Imprudent and dangerous reach the
boat by swimming.
In the end, even for the imminent arrival of the evening
we went away and we have warned, by Antonio, the Harbor Porto-Torres in Sardinia who effected
promptly to enable the procedure that is started in these cases and that the end
has come the reporting to the Australian authorities. Fortunately everything was
resolved in the best way and we were informed of the rescue of two persons on
board safely landed in Australia on 23 January. It 'been a huge relief to receive this news, we
toasted to Austral and his crew!
The boat in question, as a
model, it is very similar to OnitronI-Autoprestige,
maybe slightly smaller! The other important news
is that after about three days of hard fighting against head wind and
exhausting calm, we are leaving at this time Tasmania .... we will remember these days
for a long passage that was really hard and exhausting. ..., the passage that
opens the doors to New Zealand, the last bastion of land before facing the
Pacific and then, the approach to Cape Horn. Tasmania we have seen it! or rather
glimpsed from far away .. about thirty miles away in the closest point.
The
sighting occurred shortly before dawn yesterday morning .. we saw no land since
10th of October, when we passed the islands of Cape Verde. The other small
curiosity, but he has not a little amused, is that it has seen a seal! near the stern of the boat .... unfortunately we were unable to film or photograph her. About our friends there are always Albatross and many other
birds. The cold is always more present .. as they descend to the South. But the
item most fateful and difficult to handle is the humidity. ...
